Should I lock my Registrar as it is?

Hello,

I have domains which were locked (default as per nameserver). I came to know about this when I search my domain in whois. So I really don't know what are the pros and cons of locking or unlocking domain registrar? Can anyone tell me why we have to unlock (or lock) the registrar?

    Hi,

    The lock is just a way to help prevent someone from transfering the domain to a different account and/or registrar (usually to avoid theft). You will need to unlock if you ever desire to transfer somewhere else.

    mgreener is exactly correct, leave it locked unless/until you go to transfer it to another registrar.

    It's best to leave it locked until your ready to transfer the domain. You only need to unlock it if your gonna transfer to another registrar.
