Screen Shots with Different Resolution for Privacy

I use only my own images on some of my sites, I use a digital camera that inserts the serial number of the camera into the image. This makes all the images traceable. This also opens up personal privacy issues, as a freak werriodo could potentially find pictures of my family etc.

I thought, a web site is low res anyway, I should just take a screen shot to remove the data.

My question is, does it make a difference on the resolution setting on the monitor?

Two example, if the monitor was set at

800 X600
1152 X720
1440 X900

would the "print screen" image be better when the screen was set to 1140 X 900?

  • I would start with the middle setting. The screen size does matter to a capture and contrary to what you would intuitively think starting too big and downsizing too much can be a problem particularly with text.
  • Resolution of the monitor does not put any difference in "print screen" image. You will get the same result in any resolution you set.
  • I am not sure I understand your concern about the "privacy".
    Is the camera inserting a visible number on your photos? If yes, there must be a setting to turn it off.

    Or are you referring to the EXIF data?
