IE is driving me loony, any idea what the problem is?!

Would appreciate help from any Warrior CSS wizards. I recently discovered that some pages (templates) of a site of mine, e.g. this page: Blog | The Word Bay are screwy.

Everything fine in other browsers, but in IE9 the sidebar is getting bumped down as you can see. This sort of problem is usually a margin that needs resetting in IE or something, but in this case I can't for the life of me see where the problem is. When you use the IE developer tools you can see that the sidebar seems to have a load of extra padding (the blue outline that the tool reveals) but I just cannot figure out where that is coming from.

Anyone help me out here?

(Grrrr @*&%$*@ IE!!)

    Hey, markowe!

As usual with these css layout problems there're many different methods to fix them.
I've looked at your site in IE9 and this was what fixed it for me:

In your sidebar the widget at the bottom (the one that says Sponsored Links) is a bit too wide for the sidebar. It's 280 pixels wide but your sidebar is 250 pixels wide.
The element is called ab_adblock are you in control of its css?

If you reduce its width to 250 px and reduce, both, left and right padding on pagewrapper element to 10 px, the sidebar pops back where it belongs in IE9.

If you decide to go through with these changes, please check in other browsers of course.

    Tell us how it goes,

Oh, you d man! Thanks! It's obvious now, you can see it overflowing slightly in other browsers too. I thought I had checked all the widgets, but I guess I thought that bottom one shouldn't affect the entire sidebar. Yeah, it had its own CSS. I just killed the whole thing, those ads covert terribly anyway

    Many thanks, much hair-pulling prevented!

would it not be possible to make your sidebar use less real-estate?
Watching the home page at 100% (on Chrome/Linux), its very distracting and I can't read the page content. Usually in such situations I just "go away" and live the site.
Or maybe move the side bar to the right, so the reader can read the main content,
which is the reason he is in there in the first place ...
    hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestions. You mean the /blog homepage? TBH I get very little direct traffic to that page but I am always willing to try different things. Or do you mean the actual site homepage, the root domain address?

I mean this guy - see screenshot image and orange arrow below.
See: it is so big it is blocking me from reading the article.
Maybe adding a "Close" button would help, or making it smaller,
        or minimizing it somehow?

Waaaahhhh?! What browser are you in? Right, that plugin DIES!! So many issues with it. Too late to get a refund, but that is the last time I buy any product from D** Br***...

I hadn't seen it do that, and I have looked in all the browsers I could...
