    Hi,
I started with Weebly and later on moved to Wordpress,
I recommend that you go with Wordpress it just more options,
much more themes!! and lots of plugins that can benefits your sites,
Once you learn how to install it and use it it's more easy to use different
Themes and plugins for different site niches and categories,

    Hope this helps,

    Hi,

It entirely depends on your needs and on which one you feel the most comfortable with. I know I don't like WordPress at all and won't waste a minute with it, others think just the opposite... I guess if you want to make up your mind, you need to give them all a try.
Also, I don't know Weebly but don't listen to people telling you WordPress is better than the other CMS because it has more plug-ins and templates... That's just not true, have a look at Joomla's extensions directory and you'll see they both offer a lot of stuff : http://extensions.joomla.org/

Useless question. Unless everybody knows exactly WHAT KIND of website you are planning... all the advice replies (except Seb) are complete crap.

Being ready starts with knowing what question to ask...

Until the OP returns and gives a detailed explanation of what he needs - all the nonsense advice will be deleted. You were warned...

      Hi Istvan,

I disagree with you, I don't think that a newbie must decide right now
exactly WHAT KIND of website he is planning! maybe he didn't decide yet!
and he wants just to practice in bulding sites, why should he waste his time in weebly just to find out that for instance he can't build a classified ads site or A job listing site. So why not advice him to start
with the most options platform he can get ,everyone with his own opinions.

      Regards,

Normally, I would just delete your post but, hopefully, my reply will teach others, too, how and what to post.

        1. If the OP, or anybody for that matter, doesn't know what kind of website they need - they don't need a website.

        2. If he just wants to practice, then instead of asking useless, nonsense questions here, he should spend time experimenting and learning the different web site building tools. That's what practice means: working with the tools instead of asking questions here!

        3. I am tired to correct every ignorant Internet Marketer when they pimp around their superficial knowledge of WordPress: since most of them have never seen anything else in their online life than WP... they think WP is the best tool for anything. It is not.

        4. Now move on.

Not everyone have the time to spend on experimenting and learning the different web site building tools!that's why they ask for advice in this forum so they can learn from the experience of those who done it and avoid their mistakes!
P.S. Yes you are the moderator and you can say whatever you want but Can you show more respect to the Warrior Forum members? Can you avoid using these kind of words:..." I am tired to correct every ignorant Internet Marketer" and
"Now move on." You know that no warrior can say that kinds of words against you so
It will be more ethical not to use them.

      This ^^

But if you want opinions then I'll chuck in my preference. I tested Joomla, Drupal, WordPress pretty extensively before deciding on one. Actually I wasted 6 months learning Joomla and Drupal and then tried WordPress and was blown away by the amount of users and good free code.

Therein lies the problem, Sure Joomla/Drupal/Weebly (I haven't touched Weebs) might be good platforms but I know they only have around half a million users each whereas WordPress has 6+ million.

This means, stronger developers, better plugins, better shopping carts, better membership sites, better social platforms, better everything....

      Choice is logical.

Wordpress works really well for me. You can do a lot of things and integrate stuff into it. You can actually setup a webpage in less than an hour with it. Considering you know how to though. But the good news is that its got tutorials so I guess you could start from there.

Wordpress is MY platform of choice. I've never tried Weebly, and I really didn't like Joomla as much.

Being a newbie, why not learn about blogging and such by setting up your first blog as a FREE blog on either Blogger.com or Wordpress.com

I would personally recommend WordPress.com to start as this will give you the basics of what you will need once you decide on your CMS platform for future websites/blogs.

As I stated, both are completely FREE and both will provide you with some knowledge of what is required should you or when you decide to build a real website/blog.

I completely agree with Seb when it comes to choosing your CMS platform. What works for some may not work with others. He prefers Joomla and I prefer Wordpress. For us, we are BOTH correct, as we have different needs for our businesses.

Basically, Until you know what you want to accomplish with a website, you will have difficulties choosing the best platform for you.

        So, try FREE first.

While your learning, research, research and research. When you have enough information, download the CMS platform you plan on utilizing and then spend as much time learning and mastering it as you can.

totally depends on what you wanna do, if you don't want to learn much weebly would probably be easier, whereas wordpress would require a bit more learning but gives you more flexibility and options in your design.

    @Mark,

The best option moving forward is Weebly - because its kinda wysiwyg CMS and best of all its free!

Once you have the experience, you can then move to WordPress, but customizing Weebly is far more easier than WP.

Joomla has a difficult learning curve, it is less popular then WP - WP has its beginnings as a blogging software and Joomla was truly a CMS right from the start - but WP has over-taken Joomla, both in terms to user friendliness and features.

There are several 'Frame-Works' for WP & Joomla, which help in creating or customizing websites, but you need to know HTML, CSS & basic PHP and of course, must have experience with loading sites and pointing domains.

    Hope this was helpful.

    Wishing you well.

Wordpress has the largest user base, community, theme/plugin marketplace, hosting support.

After years of upgrade, it's lightweight and relatively simple to maintain and extend.

The choice would have been less straightforward 4 or 5 years ago, but today, it's a no-brainer.

Why: Weebly is a free blog platform that doesn't offer anything!
Joomla is complicated for no reason, 30 options for one button....

You're better off with a simple interface and CMS friendly options, hence Wordpress.

Never use weebly. Completely useless, and you own literally none of the content - weebly does! As for WordPress v.s. Joomla, I'd say Wordpress. I would never recommend Joomla to a beginner - it's a very difficult CMS for even some "experts" (whatever that means) to use - it's even more-so difficult for a beginner.

As others have said, head over to Wordpress.org and get cracking.

I have to say it depends on your needs. Weebly takes much less skill and if you aren't writing blog posts and just provide information about your business, it is more than enough. However, for more robust sites, Wordpress.org - hands down.

I've also used Joomla and won't say it is better or worse than WP - it is all about your personal style and taste.
