Hi all,

I stumbled upon Bluehost or Host Gator affiliate program, but I have a question regarding how their payouts are handled. I mean if someone buys multiple accounts from bluehost or hostgator do these multiple buys get credited for the affiliate program.

Example:

I buy 20 different accounts for 20 different people who dont have a debit or credit card, will these sales count as an affiliate sale.

Please help me figure this out.

Thanks

Doubt they would count as affiliate sales. General advice: don't try to game the affiliate systems by trying to bank commissions on your own purchases.

Affiliate links will only make you money if you can reach a large audience.

If you click on your affiliate link to get to the site, they should count as an affiliate sale. There are just a couple of extra details to check. Some programs don't allow you to buy through your own affiliate link, like Amazon.

Hostgator is not one of those, but I don't know about bluehost. You can buy from your own affiliate link with HG. Even though you are buying them for other people it will look like you buying them if you use your own credit card. So you might want to check about that detail with bluehost.

Hosting companies are enthusiastic about answering questions from possible customers. There should be a live chat or an email addy somewhere on the site.

I think it will be counted as a affiliate sale because the traffic came from you.
In my own point of view, when a person clicked on your affiliate link and the person has purchase the service or product of your affiliate it will directly count as your affiliate sale.

Unfortunately, nobody cares what is your own personal opinion - in this case.

When an organization runs an affiliate program, there are RULES and Terms (TOS) for participation. Read them! And quote them or link to them. Don't give nonsense personal opinions to mislead other users.

Good question. If you intend on handling multiple affiliate sales on a single credit card, hostgator will most likely detect it as spam or fraud and will terminate your account. Hostgator has been known to be rather strict with their affiliate program. If you intend on purchasing for your clients, you need to contact their affiliate department. Here is taken from their TOS:

"If you are referring clients to HostGator from a free hosting service that you run, you are not eligible for commissions unless given express permission by HostGator. You must contact our affiliate department for review and a special commission rate."

Read their TOS and decide for yourself. Hostgator is rather strict with its affiliate program, though I'd recommend anyone to use their service. I've been using hostgator for years and their customer support is unrivaled.

Thanks this is very useful, I was asking this because where I live its a bit complicated to buy anything outside the country without having a credit card, so I figured it would be easy to use my credit card to buy the hosting for clients,

          Thank you

Yes, it would be best to contact the affiliate department.

Since you mentioned that you are buying the hosting for clients, hostgator also offers a reseller package, where you have a web host manager account to allocate disk storage, bandwidth, offer domain names for sale and other features. That way you can earn from your clients on a monthly basis instead of getting a one time affiliate payout from hostgator.

Take a look at what the reseller package and dedicated servers have to offer before making a decision.

jordianis so hard to assume that they would just credit it to your account. The best thing even they say yes they will ask your buyer/client to purchase it one by one if they are willing to make sure that u will be credited on it.

Remember that as much you want to earn money they do too! and it is really hard to count their word because one support person would say no and the other one may say yes or vice versa

    Cheers

I read a post somewhere on the HG forum and they are strict with affiliate payouts. They thoroughly investigate especially new contracts.

I purchased a new account with them using a completely different company name to the last account I had with them a year previously and there billing dept linked the two accounts quickly!

Just ask them and see what they say

I asked the same question with HG affiliate manager and they said if I buy for my client that sale not credited to my affiliate account. It is better to use their reseller account if you really want to earn money by selling hosting to your clients.
