I have a website that's really new to promote one of my apps and any others in the future but I didn't want it to just be a sales page because I would like to make it more content driven. Any ideas how I could do this while still selling my apps?

For an example should I start a blog talking about pubs, clubs and concerts because my apps in that niche? but keep in mind apps in the future maybe a totally different niche but sticking with utilities to help everyday life.

Reminder: this is a web design forum and any SEO topic/post will be deleted.

As for the original question - yes, adding a blog or pages with related 'articles' could be beneficial. It should be installed something in a subfolder.

However, you should think over it, namely, WHY do you want to "expand" it?

i think that you can take it to the next level if you already have users.
think about a niche social network where the users can create events, share albums from places and to find a place to go.
this is the kind of website that always grow..
you just need to build a website and add migrate the users in it.
it can be huge and i think you should consider it..

Great app. I like the idea and i may get it once i start hitting bars and pubs again.

For expansion, a blog would be a good addition however you need to ask yourself whether you will have time to frequently update it. A blog that's outdated is worse than not having one at all. Once you have developed more apps, you could create an "On Sale" page where you can promote your new apps. It would also be good to add a FAQ page to answer any common questions.

Consider adding a navigation bar along the header, on the right-hand side of your logo once you've added more pages to your site. Yellow or lime green font would blend well. Overall the site looks good. Neat, simple, and straight to the point.

Thanks aureusb for the navigation placement ideas once I move to multiple pages also I never thought about having a On Sales & FAQ page.

Also as a few of you have said about making a blog I think it would be quite easy to maintain as I love showing off new developments

I've done a little bit more research on some of the top app developers websites and here is a site map of how I think I might expand.

        - Home
        - iPhone Apps

        -- Paid
        -- Free
        - News
        -- Blog
-- Press Releases (Mainly for app launches and updates)
-- Press Kit (screenshots and icons)
        -- Spoilers
        - Competitions (I will have a constant monthly contest were people go into the entry to win for sharing and maybe some daily contests based around yearly events eg. Christmas)
        - On Sale (Suggested by aureusb. I'll add this once I get more apps developed)
-Videos (I have a small team of friends working together to make guerilla marketing videos in multiple city's)
        - Supporters (For fans that to go above and beyond by purchasing stickers, shirts and so on. This will also have these fans displayed on a wall of fame.)
        - FAQs (Suggested by aureusb)
        - About
        - Support

        Please share your thoughts.

It's all good... as long as you don't get overloaded!

          -Competition

Before holding any competition of any sort, it would best to develop a community first. Unless of course you've already got a facebook fanpage with thousands of fans on it.

          - Press releases

In one of your press release updates, you can mention that you will be holding a competition soon(you don't have to specify a date). Try to gather as much hype and feedback as possible and monitor the feedback.

          - Free apps

Giving away free apps can be a really effective marketing tool. Just don't over give or you'll lose your value!

          - Video marketing

It's great that you have that quite taken care of - also a very effective marketing tool, especially since you're going with guerrilla marketing.

You really need to invest a lot of time in building a community and most importantly, always add a personal touch to all of your campaigns.

It's all looking good so far
