000webhost.com is widely recommended among the free hosts. I put a site up on their service three years ago to test them out and the site is still there.

Here's another way to get free hosting... Sign up though this promo link and get hosting from Brain Host for 12 months. I set up a test account with Brain Host and I've monitored it with Pingdom which shows my test site as having 96.98% uptime for the time I've had the site up. Most of those down times seem to be due to database downtime; a static HTML site should be fine on there.

On a side note, it's probably not a popular option for many, but 9 years ago, I signed up for a free account with SDF Public Access UNIX System - Free Shell Account and Shell Access. The site I created there is still standing, longer than many web hosts have been in existence!

I've tested both 000webhost and Byethost in the past and my site seemed to work alright. However that was around 3 years ago and I'm not too sure what the state of their service is at the moment. Also, are you sure you want to go with a free web host? If it's just a static page then you should be fine but if it's dynamic then I'd think twice about it.

Go for hostzilla.net

You get all the features of a shared paid hosting except that disk space is limited to 100 MB. More than enough for 1 page hosting. In fact, if you don't upload heavy media files you should be able to host even 50+ webpages I believe.

For your images and video files you can use free cloud storage like dropbox, skydrive etc and just link it from there, if you know what I mean.

True, Most hosts will offer trials like we do. But still offering completely free hosting is not feasible for a web host and could cause problems if hosts are not careful with spammers etc.

There are many hosts offering Web Hosting for a $1 or less.

Do not go for free web hosting.. Instead you go for cheapest web hosting company.

As others have mentioned I wouldn't recommend free hosting but you may want to consider hubpages or squidoo as they are free .

One thing to consider, if the page becomes popular you will be stuck possibly with a page with ads or other disadvantages if you want to move it in the future as a third party owns the content.

ooowebhost can help, but if you want to be outstanding go for paid ones. The advantage of paid hosting is that, you have control over it, which free ones cannot give.

I've used 1freehosting.com for awhile and never had a serious issue til a month ago. They closed my site because my wp theme had a malicious code in it some how. They don't offer any customer support. So all my emails have went unanswered. The site that nkatla suggested uses the sme server as 1freehosting, but if they have a real customer service staff, I would say go for it. It offers all the same advance features paid services use. I still host other websites with them, but I'm looking to switch to hostgator soon.

Why bother with free hosting ? Plenty of deals around, get yourself some proper hosting then you can host your single page as a sub domain and redirect to it. Or you could just host your page with as many free hosts as you can find then redirect the domain whenever one goes down.

If you're looking for decent site builders, you might want to increase your budget some. When I say decent, I mean builders such as basekit/breezi etc, not that rvsitebuilder junk.
