How do i Create a Basic static page on my domain ?

I have a wordpress site that i use as a bit of a blog and product HUB. what i want to do is to make a page for example maybe a sales page ..

www.mydomain.com/salespage

On this particular sales page i dont want any header or any info that is present on the root domain.. just a simple 1 page sales page no header, no footer no nothing.

How do i build this ? please excuse me its just something im not sure how to do using wordpress ?

  • Create the directory "salespage" in your root or whatever you want to call it

    Just create a basic html page in notepad or your favorite html editior and call it index.html

    Upload your new index.html to that directory you just made. Of course you have to know how to write html but thats really not too difficult.

    When you name the file you should not name it index.html and upload it to the root of your domain unless you want the main domain name (i.e. www.example.com) to be that page. If you want the page to appear at www.example.com/salespage then you should upload a document named salespage (you should actually name it your target keyword) to the first sub-directory of your root.

      1. Open your notepad...
      2. Paste following code
      Code:
      <?php
/*
Template Name: salespage
*/
?>
      3. paste your HTML code or whatever you want to appear on your new salespage. below above code.
      4. Save your notepad file as "salespage.php"
      5.now upload this file via ftp to your active wordpress theme folder
      6.Go to wordpress dashboard
      7.create a new page
      8.give the page name as "Salespage"
      9.go to right hand side tabs where you will find "Page attributes"
      10.Go to template drop down menu
      11.select page templates as "Salespage"
      12.save the page.

      Now you can find your new page as you required.
