After the newest wordpress update 3.5, it automatically made a folder like this. I saw it when I logged into my hosting via ftp today. I hosted 2 sites (2 unique domains) there and both have wordpress 3.5, but only for one site, this type of folder created automatically.

mysite.com.old

Anyone experienced the same thing ?

  • Are you in dreamhost? There are few threads discussing the same:
How to delete .old folders on Dreamhost
    https://discussion.dreamhost.com/thread-135405.html

These are created by the upgrade software (I belive you didn't upgrade manually and used some script installer), you may delete them.

    • yes, I use dream host. This is the first time it happened to me. Hope deleting .old folder won't be a problem.
  • Why don't you just back it up in your PC and delete 'em. If something wrong happens, you can put it back!
  • it happened to me before, I just delete it... good thing, nothing happened bad in my blog.. good luck!
