Mobile Adaptive Site in Joomla?

I have been reading about responsive vs separate mobile sites for mobile and tablets, and I am trying to decide what to do. I have now learned about adaptive sites, which seems the way to go.

Has anyone built an adaptive site in Joomla? I am still learning to play with the CSS/Java in Joomla and my plan of attack is to build the site on a responsive template so I can get the site online. Then, as I learn how to do the adaptive features, modify the responsive template to add them (i.e. if mobile detected, then load smaller image file, etc.). It doesn't seem any vendors offer adaptive templates and I am not ready to build a template on my own yet.

Does this seem like the correct path or will this path even work?

I only learned Joomla and already know how to use it. I like the way the back end functions and there are great templates and extensions available.

Initially I searched on WF for commentary of Joomla vs Wordpress vs Drupal, and made the decision to go with Joomla. I know it had a steeper learning curve, but it seemed like the product I wanted to use. I used the free 30-day demo initially from Cloudaccess to test out Joomla and liked the way it functioned.

  • jGladmore,

If working with Joomla is easy for your and you can find a template that suites your needs then this would seem like a good path. Joomla is a very good CMS with lots of support around the web.

Here is a site that offers responsive templates,

Thanks as I forgot about Joomlabamboo.

I have limited it down to a couple from Rockettheme and YOOtheme. I really like the way templates from Yootheme work and have been able to test their demo sites out on several phones, ipad, and multiple desktop browsers. I will probably use one of theirs unless someone has something negative to say about them.
