Joomla or Code On My Own?

Hello,

I was wondering what would you do if you were in my situation:
would you start using Joomla for building more developed sites or, would you keep coding?

CMS'es are rather easy to use, once you have them built up...
But I love to have more control on my side...
Although, I am not a coder, but an online marketer...
Complex coding gives me a headache and it's time-consuming...

I know Joomla is a lot more different from WordPress, have given it a try, but is it really that good as it's rumored?

I'm in a dilemma: continuing to code my own platforms (headache, more control, time-consuming) or use Joomla (less control, unfamiliar coding, but less time, though more money)?

This kindof ties in with your other two posts, since they are all dependent on this answer/choice.
    Doctype post
    and...
    DIV hyperlink post.

I think you should upgrade from what you have.
I am not a joomla guru and I personally would recommend WordPress.
What you currently have (static html) is a hard way to go unless it's a real simple website.
Going to a CMS type platform is the way to go.
If you really want to stick with static html, go with what I recommended here.

  • Shipwrecked,

I would go with a CMS (whether Joomla or something else). Especially if coding is not your core focus. You don’t really give up that much control either. Personally I use Joomla and Wordpress extensively and you can bend them to your will just as much as something built from scratch.

    Hope that helps,

I'd prefer to stick with WordPress. It is a CMS with the biggest community, used by many big brands, supported n developed by great people, many additional plugin (free and premium) to enhance the site functions, many themes (free and premium) to make the site stand out. Perfect.

As a designer, with CMS, you only have to design the appearance, not the web functions.

Wordpress is easy to use and it has very powerfull SEO. And you can buy an awesome theme, nobody will ever now that is wordpress.
However, if you like joomla, i say to go for it, is very good CMS just hard to use.
