Importing Demo Content with an XML file

Hi All,

There are many different Wordpress sites and Themes that are available for purchasing, making it tough to decide where to start. What I'm trying to find out is how to get ANY website setup like the demo sites that are shown on the sales pages.

I think I know my answer but just wanted to get clarification on it.

After you import the XML file, the site doesn't automatically look like the demo site.

I think the reason is this:

After you import the file, I believe you have to go into your Wordpress dashboard and make changes. This may be just to make a couple of little changes such as setting the number of columns, enabling a slider, etc.or maybe a whole lot of changes.

You would then have to look or study the setup of the demo site and with somewhat of a trained eye, figure out what changes have to be made.

My thinking is , either the above mentioned way or there is somewhere else to look that will spell it all out for you.

My guess is studying it and working with it for a bit until it looks like the demo.

Can someone shed some light on this for me and fill in any missing pieces?

Thanks ahead for any help,

Joe

You did answer your own question....
When importing make sure to import all assets, then you need to go through the theme settings and assign the menus, etc...
Some things just cannot be done by the xml file. (some theme settings, assign menu, set widgets.)
Demos can be mirrored, just takes a little extra beyond the xml import.
