do you upgrade/work on yoru site directly from yoru server or do you work on yoru site remotly and then transfer the updates and upgrades to the server?
#website design #directly #remotly #server #site #upgrade or work #work #yoru
  • I prefer to work on my site remotely and then accordingly transfer the updates and upgrades to the respective server.By this I can upload a bug free code on server.

And benefits of this would also be because you have a back up. I have seen threads of people complaining about their sites getting hacked and not having a back up, although i am not sure whether they had static/dynamic pages or were working with a CMS. I do know that CMS systems are more vulnerable to being hacked.

  • Ditto to eluminoustechnologies.
It puzzles me how many people build/design/upgrade their sites on the server while the site is live.
It's so much easier and safer to upgrade or work on the site, etc... on a remote version then push the changes to the live site.
Simple method: Put up your landing page, optin, etc... to the live server while you build your site on your computer locally. Just run a local server like wamp, mamp, xampp, etc...
When your build/design is complete, upload the completed site to the live server.
Better Method: Almost same as above, but use subversion.

Agreed! Absolutely backup your site all the time. This also puzzles me why so many people do not have a full recent backup of their site, they get hacked and freak out! Really?
Where's your backup....It's as important as building the site itself.
