    If you can afford paid solution then no question vBulletin is the most robust, stable, and the best forum solution! Why? Well Warrior Forum uses it, and almost all my clients with big money and online revenues use VB forums.

    If you need to go with free solution, then you have phpBB, SMF or other new solutions..
    For me I may go with WP + bbPress (Why? Because i want to keep things on WP

    Yes, Vbulletin is indeed the best in my personal opinion however I really recommend it now because they provide quite a nice mobile app along with your VB Suite purchase. Pretty secure too and does a great job helping you fight spam.
