How to Add Dynamic PHP Blog to Otherwise Static Website

Okay, I know there are tons of Wordpress fanatics out there and all that, but I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for how to add a dynamic PHP blog element to an otherwise static website?

Like, if I don't want to use Wordpress that is. I'm aware of all the benefits too, I use it for many of my own sites. So I don't need to be sold on the idea of using it, since I already do in many cases.

Is there a good blogging software that can be easily integrated with a static site to enable easier posting to a dynamic blog? Preferably something without too much of a learning curve, since PHP is definitely not a language I'm very familiar with.

Thanks in advance.

Just wondering why the overcomplication? (i.e. learning another PHP based CMS etc.)

The 'normal' way would be - especially, having in mind you're already familiar with WP - to install WP next to your site, i.e. in a subfolder.

example.com = your existing static (html?) site
example.com/blog = your WP powered blog

The only thing you have to do: create theme that mimics 100% your existing site's design... or hire somebody to do it.
It has been done many times and it works.

Guess I hadn't really thought of that. I found that themepress works pretty good for creating a wordpress theme based on your existing site's html and css, so maybe I'll try doing that and install it in a sub folder. Thank you.
