Links to my new wp site from other log-in pages...is this a problem?

Hello,

I have a new wordpress site that is showing multiple direct links (in awstats) from other sites wp log-in pages. All the domains start with the same 1st letter of the alphabet as mine.

I've been to several of the domains and viewed the page source but don't see my url anywhere in the code of the log-in page.

I'm a little confused:confused:

Does anyone know what's going on and if this is a problem?

Thanks,
Lynn

    • Hi KingMighty,

      Here's a screenshot from awstats.
  • What kind of theme are you using, a free one? could you link me to your website please?

    • I'm using a premium theme from Inkthemes. I initially had a free theme but was getting security alerts about changes to it so I took the entire site down (cancelled account in WHM & set up a new one) and reinstalled with a new theme. The website is KenziesNotes dot com.
  • By looking at the screenshot I really do not see any kind of risk however what I would do is change your WP-admin password simply because it's kind of odd that you are getting referral hits straight from someone else's WP-Login.php page. If anyone else would like to give their two cents on this that'd be great two however I really don't see much of an issue.

    Regards,
    King

    • Thanks for taking a look.

I have Wordfence installed for security and the site is constantly getting hit with login attempts.... must have blocked several hundred login attempts in less than a week. The alerts in my inbox now outnumber the spam

I have a few sites up and this is by far the worst for hacking attempts.
  • Here is something you might want to look at as well.
wp admin - How to redirect/rewrite all /wp-login requests - WordPress Answers

This will show you how to reroute all login request. Also, I would encourage you to look into maybe changing the actual name of the WP admin folder to something like, yourdomain.com/admin123 (You get my point)

    • Thanks...will read that link right away.
When I set up wordpress the second time I did change the default database and table prefixes but never thought about renaming the admin folder...will look into that too.
  • Hope that helps you put some!
