I have an image I would like to add to a WP page that consists of 3 gears that mesh, each having a label. I would like to have each gear label link to another page on the site. Is that possible or does each gear have to be a separate image?

SmallBizWebsites points out the easiest way to achieve your goal.

There is an alternative using CSS, Anchors, And DIVs. You could, using, CSS insert background images into anchors and float them around using CSS positioning to achieve the same effect. Albeit, this is going to take far more work.

There has been much conversation about Image Maps and SEO. A quick Google search will reveal lots of perspectives on the subject. Here is one article:
Image maps and search engine visibility

This is just some food for thought. I tend to think that if, in fact, search engines spiders cannot get through and image map; then make sure to put alternative links to those URLs in the footer or some other resource area. Does that make sense?
