How do you delete a page from your website?

I have a website that allows for guest posting. For some reason if I wait to long to approve or deny the page, it gets indexed in Google search results anyway. Since most submissions are either low quality or syndicated content, I delete the page. However, in the analytics I see people still landing on a page that I have waited to long to delete.

If you land on the page from search results it just brings you to the same page the content was hosted on but with no content. I don’t want excessive empty pages to bring down the value of my site. Should I use the Google Webmaster Tools to de index the page?

    First and above all: if by "guest hosting" you get mainly this kind of crap - stop letting people to post guest post. They are not respectful guests, they are jerks :rolleyes:

    You didn't mention what kind of CMS or script is used on your site, so we don't know why those pages don't get deleted when you say you delete them...
