Hi

Im just putting the finishing touches on a new classifieds site of mine and I think the colors of the ads look crap to be honest.

Basically my users have 3 options for posting ads. These appear differently in the search results.

Currently:
basic- is a plain ad with a white background
featured- stands out in an off pale yellow
and
top ads- are always up the top in an off pink/red

Can you guys take a look and recommend me some better color combinations, basically the top ad guys need to stand out the most but there is no big push on in your face colors as they sit in the top section anyway.

The featured guys do need to stand out as their ads can get bumped down but still need to stand out as that is what they have paid for.

the basic guys need to remain this way.

Or look here, ive setup a few test ads:

I use this website for color/palette inspiration. I'd choose some paler colors than those.

To solve this problem, Google the term "color families". To present design elements well on a web page, the colors you pick should belong to the SAME color family. ALL of them. Picking random colors causes the problem you seem to have presently.

Thanks guys, I took a look at both of those. Ill keep having a play around. Arghhh Im not good at design lol! Kudos to anyone that can tell me what colors they think would look great.

I was thinking of like maybe just keeping the top ad white with the red line border and I have no idea for the featured ads.
