Please help with the design?

This is my site i am designing

Header look a bit empty any advice how to improve website looking. And make it more attractive? thanks

  • I would throw some color behind the text...
    maybe find a graphic with different shades of blue in a swirl shape...
    something similar to this maybe? blue swirl image

    I wouldn't cover the entire header with it...
    maybe start from the bottom of the header between the two "OO"
    and then run it off to the right towards the top.

  • For me, having the stars on the side go no further down than the header, would be an improvement. When I'm reading/looking at the site, having the stars in view to left and right of what I'm looking at, is to me off-putting; quite distracting.

    • Its too simple..you can surely modernize the look.Can work on the banner and make it dynamic if you wish.Moreover I do agree with what commented previously.

  • Seems to me there is way too much white space all over the page. For example, there is one inch of white space above the first paragraph of text and one inch below it. This will force visitors to scroll unnecessarily.
  • I see you have removed the blue stars back ground. Now you have to choose a different colored / textured back ground to fill in all the white spaces.

    • I like that you got rid of the stars in the background too...
      I still think you could change the whole mood of your site
      if you spiced up your header...

      maybe a white sparkle or two in the blue circle around the character's head?
      or sprinkle a handful of small blue stars around HOOSEWIFEY?

      BTW, nice clean looking site (two thumbs up!)

  • Header image is too tall, imagine a 15" laptop, once you visit the website all you can see is the header.

    • Love the content! Just looking at those recipes makes me hungry

      I agree with too much white space. Personally I hate to scroll, I actually made the page 75% and it looked better.
      Maybe change the background color in the header so the title of the blog isn't just floating in white space. I made some examples (it was fun playing around with paint! please understand that i am in no way a graphic designer, or web designer for that matter!)

      Otherwise I love the blog and would probably check it for updates!
