Hi everyone! I'm Annielette and just looking for a few people to critique my site. I feel it's "clunky" but don't necessarily know how to word it in a way my dev team can understand!

This is the first website I built from the ground up (unless you count my hobby site back in middle school...) and I would really appreciate some feedback how to make it better.

*Note* It's still under development, so none of the form fields work and some links return to the main page or same page.

Please include your browser and screen size if you can. (I noticed the website kinda morphs depending on browser/screen size)

Thanks a lot!

Oh, I don't know where to begin...

The site is too dark, it's hard to read the lower part of the site... the background is dark and you have 2 columns with opacity:0.8 (#contain_4_inner_box1 and #contain_4_inner_box2) with a black background...

I recommend a maximum site width of 980px (I prefer 960px), you have 990px and with 1024x768 browser width/height the vertical scollbar appears.

DOCTYPE is missing (very bad for IE users), 65 errors:

[Invalid] Markup Validation of http://beta.perfectlifestylenow.com/ - W3C Markup Validator

The text "21 Free Life-changing..." is wrapping with 1024x768.

    See the attached picture...

If your dev's would create a site for me... I would say: once again, please

Thanks Michael, that was really helpful! How do I download the original picture file? The thumbnail is too small...or maybe I'm missing something...

@lanotdesign - I felt the same. Had to zoom out of the site when I was viewing.

@KevinBurns - Thank you for all those useful insight. I agree with losing the black background (or having a picture background on a landing page) It's very hard to read. Hmmm... I'll talk with them about possibly changing some things.

Thanks for all the help so far! I really appreciate it

    Hey annielette
the first thing I noticed is that the fonts you used overwhelmed me, it's in a larger scale than necessary. The layout is already looks great. I don't like the logo at all. I am using google chrome 14" screen.

      Hello Annielette...

I'm afraid I have to agree with the others on this...
Your fonts are WAY TOO BIG!!!

The drop shadow effect on your heading and sub heading should go.

The black background killed it for me...
IMHO you should have one solid background color for this type of page.

The black background completely distracts your visitor.
The video is great, but I instantly forgot about it when
the black background came into view...
it was like looking at a completely different website.

If it were me, I would make the black background part a different page.
I wouldn't even have it on the same page with the video, it's way too distracting.

I think you will get more people filling out the form
if you keep your first page short and simple with just the video part in blue.

      I'm using Mozilla 1600 x 900

      hope this helps

In the meantime you could check out my latest landing page... it may help you.

    Landing Page March 2013

This is how a classical landing page should look like (not the colors, that can be changed easily).

    Instead of making another thread...

So we're completely reworking the whole site...

    In the mean time...
I've gone back to using the old not-so-rocking-your-socks-off-but-gets-the-job-done profits theme site...

And I decided to create some landing pages.

Our new dev team tells us they'll have the site by next week. Any tips for colors/etc on the landing pages?
