How can I improve my site? draalin.com

Hi, I have had this domain for 12 years or so, just never got around doing anything with it.

draalin.com

I know my logo is garabge, I plan on replacing that.

One of my main questions is, I started a forum on my website but it seems pretty hard to get traffic to it.

I am not sure if its because of the placement of it? Doesn't stand out enough?

Anyways, I am currently running WordPress(front page) + Xenforo(forum)

    What levels of traffic are you getting to it just now, or at least over the last 6 months?

      Ah missed your message. I just started putting content into this site about 2 weeks ago. For this month so far I have about 1,400 unique visitors and over 2,000 visits with a bounce rate of 60%.

    your site has good content, i believe with time your forum will grow. Encourage your users to ask question in your forum.

    I would say your logo and website layout good enough . Try to create back links for your site to get search engine attention. Try to post some interesting topics related to your niche with time you will get more traffic ( its hard to get traffic but not too hard) :-)

    Thanks for the feedback, I am still debating on what exactly to do with the logo.

    As for backlinks, I have been making a ton of manual backlinks to relevant sites which brings in probably about 60% of my traffic right now.

          To make the forum stand out more add a squeeze bar to the top of the site and have a text saying something like "Join the conversation in the forum area". And link would obviously point to the forum.

          Have a look at 'covert action bar' (http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-you-want.html)

          or WP Squeeze Bar

              Both options are paid I'm afraid. And no, I don't know the authors personally, sorry.

              But coding a hello bar yourself should be too hard, it's basically just a full width div that doesn't move when scrolled (position: fixed I think?)
