I'm wondering if I should use wordpress to create a store that sells rustic cabin decor. I'll probably have between 50-100 items. I'm would like the website to look much like blackforestdecor.com

Will wordpress handle this ok? Can someone point me in the right direction to find a good theme. I don't mind paying for a great one.
Thanks,
Forrest

Yes, WP can handle that just fine. You have 4+ options for ecommerce plugins with WordPress - Woocommerce, Cart66, WP-Ecommerce, JigoShop, and a number of independent solutions. Here are some themes you can start looking through to find something that fits: E-Commerce Themes for Wordpress - JigoShop, WooCommerce, WP-Ecommerce

WP can handle eCommerce sites fine. There are many great eCommerce websites built with WP.

WooCommerce is a good place to start but keep in mind some themes will require plugins to extend the functionality. Like getting real time shipping rates, using Aweber, or using PayPal Pro payments, etc.. Plugins are fairly straight forward to add to a WP Theme. Check the themes extensions.

Plus you can add many other great WP plugins for security, spam control, social sharing, etc. that you can add to any WP site.

IMHO a WP eCommerce site is a cost effective solution for many and a powerful solution.

Hope this helps. Just my 2 cents. All the best with your store.

    Woocommerce + Wordpress..

The best combination for setting up an ecommerce site.

All the rest are crap ( in terms of security, flexibility, coding, layouts, etc. speaking from experience not guessing).

Edit: forgot to add, both are free !

WooCommerce + WordPress are simpler (and free) for someone just starting out with e-commerce.

The number of products like you mentioned around 50-100, Wordpress should do without any problem. You can go with WooCommerce plugin for it.

In case you are looking for 100% Ecommerce site with more advance features, Magento is a good option as well.

We have built many eCommerce sites, but I really do enjoy how simple, but yet extendible Wordpress can be with plugins such as WooCommerce.

So if you are considering doing some kind of store with Wordpress, the short answer is yes, it's very much possible to do so

Wordpress is very best CMS to manage content of website. but as per your e-commerce requirement wordpress is not giving such functionality to manage e-commerce. so i would like to suggest you to use Magento for your e-commerce site.

How is WooCommerce in terms of reporting.... is there an option for exporting?

The Product CSV Import Suite WooCommerce extension lets you import and export products to and from WooCommerce. You can import hundreds, even thousands, of products using one file.

        Totally!

I switched from Magento to WP e-commerce long ago.

As long as you have a proper SLL cert and credit card processor, there's nothing to worry about. There's a slew of plugins and third-party apps to keep your WP installation secure as well.

I'm actually building an e-commerce site right now for myself. It uses WooCommerce, an SSL from GoDaddy, and Stripe as its credit card processor. Luckily, I'm the developer and designer so I'm only out the cost for the SSL cert and the WooCommerce plugins.

I solidly recommend Stripe as a credit card processor though. It's the cheapest and best one I've found. It does require a tick of savvy to get working, but if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Woo commerce is definitely the best solution if you want to stick with Wordpress, although this isn't scalabe. If you're serious about the eCommerce site I would highly suggest having a look at Magento.
