I am trying to add a shopping cart solution to an html website. Trying to figure out the best way to do this. From what I have read it sounds like opencart is a popular option.

Does anyone have any recommendations/pointers on how best to do this. I will be using paypal standard for payment processing. thanks

If you are hosting on a cpanel there's several web shopping cart offered as one click install that you try to install and run. Normally, these are the most used ones.

If it's just a basic HTML website, I would suggest just adding add to cart buttons onto your products, you will find more details here -https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_shoppingcart-intro-outside

There are many options for Shopping Carts though, I'd recommend 2, Woo Commerce, which is an eCommerce plugin for Wordpress, really easy to use and great to start off with but isn't really scalable.

If you're serious about an eCommerce website I'd highly recommend Magento. The features are endless so it's worth doing some research on.

    Hope this helps

Unlike other e-commerce shopping carts, OpenCart is streamlined such that you get to have only the functions that you really want in your website. Full customization to all your store requirements is therefore easy to accomplish even after deployment-should you wish to change any feature or design aspect in your site, it can be done just as easily.
