Okay, here is my website: http://www.distraktart.com

I would like some feedback on it. I'm still in the process of building it.

Mainly, I want to know two main things.

I know white text is bad on a dark background, but how bad is mine?

How long did it take you to load the website, would you have left right away?

I've had this layout for a while and having to change it to a full white background requires a lot of coding, so I'm thinking about changing up the theme just because of that.

From Google Analytic, I am getting a bounce rate of 56.10%, their more direct targeted and only a few visitors a day.

Anyway, if anyone can give me feedback's please. Thanks!

The loading wasnt really good, but maybe its my internet

I dont think the white lettering on the dark background is causing your high bounce rate.
I would blame that on the "booring feeling when you visit the page" and expect something more creative and artish.

    Just my opinon tho

I think the average bounce rate is 70% and the lower the bounce rate, the better.

Personally I really dislike black as a background...but with that being said I think it could depend on your target customer.

If your target customer is in the IM niche it may be hard for them to get past the black.

      Site loaded fine for me.

My first impression was a little confused about what you offer.

I first thought it was Website Graphic Design...then I wasn't so sure because you used design tutorials as a incentive to signup for your list...

If your customers want a Web Designer why would they want to learn how to design?

      Hope that was helpful...

I'm trying to give away free information like tutorials and stuff for subscribers at the same time offer my serverices. I guess I have to change the wording around.

        Thank you for your feedback.

I totally agree with Deb. The name makes me think of an art gallery or something.

As for the title, I'd recommend leading with "Web Graphic Design, SEO, Online Marketing, and Blog" before "Distrakt Art." Simply because people will be search for the keywords before they ever search for "Distrakt Art."

As for the design, what case studies did you use before designing and developing your site? Honestly, it won't attract your big ticket customers. If your target is local, then I don't think you will have a problem.

And honestly, as a UX designer (among other things), white text on black background is good for readability. As long as there's contrast, you're fine.

Would you like a full analysis?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Yeah, I had this brand for almost 8 years, mainly because I started of doing graphic designs and never thought about changing it. If I do I would have to change up years of work around. I thought about it..

The site is mainly for local, but I haven't optimized it yet. Never did any case studies, just saw a cool theme and went with it.

I want to have an active blog, but again the white text on dark doubts me to get readers. I was thinking about creating a sub domain just for the blog, and put on a minimal theme on there. Not sure yet.

I appreciate your reply Jacob. Sure, a full analysis would be great. Thanks!
I'm not done with the website though. I think because I'm a designer I'm taking longer, I should be focusing on finishing it first and design later.

I like the layout and feel of the site. Graphics are clean. I would remove the "subscribe" box on the top of the home page though, that way when customers visit the site, the first thing they notice is the slideshow displaying your services. I would also fill out the homepage more, perhaps put a blog roll or something of the sort. Just my thoughts. Hope they help.

Site load quick for me. The layout is nice and clean, I don't know if it my eye but the content can be annoying to read after awhile. But other than that I think it looks great. Keep up the great work.

Site loaded well, and although i am not a big fan of black backgrounds it was clean and easy to read. It was a little busy in places which took me away from what you were offering but overall I think it was a really well designed site.
