Source for Images

Other than the popular image sites like flickr, are there any other good sources for website images that might be less expensive?

A few months ago I remember seeing a guy that had a membership site where you could download as many images (I think he had like 5,000) as you wanted for ridiculously cheap. Can't remember his name now though.

Thanks.

  • Check out morguefile.com and stock.xchng (www.sxc.hu). I would also check out deviantart.com I've found some good images on there royalty free. If you are looking for icons and such I usually go to GraphicRiver.net it's cheap (not free) but has a huge resource of images and illustrations for designers.

  • Another option is to use Google Advanced Image Search with the "royalty free" flag enabled under "usage rights".

Here's two videos that should help:

How to search Google for Royalty Free Images - YouTube
Get Royalty Free Images With Google Images - YouTube

    • Check out iClipart.com. Contrary to the name, they have tons of regular images. Dirt cheap for a 1 week subscription.

@ Google image search... be careful with that. Just because Google says an image is "royalty free" doesn't necessarily mean that it is. Anyone can take a copyrighted image, tag it as "royalty free", and post it on their site (or Flikr) for the Google spiders to pick up. That's why I think it's best to stick with a well-known commercial image site.

  • Hi,
I have attached a file with a list of image sites. I created this list a few months back for a project I was working on at the time. There are some comments and pricing information which was correct then.

  • I usually use Photodune or GraphicRiver. Most of the time my content only needs the $1 sized images, and at most the images are ~$10. Huge selection, easy to use.
