A 'Compromised' website

I have a friend, who when you Google his business and his listing comes up, there is a line that says --

This site may be compromised.

From reading what Google says, he'll need to take down his website and re-do it(he doesn't have it backed up). My question is -- does this just affect the website or should he re-build on a new domain? I have never had to deal with this before.

If he can re-build using the same domain, how does he make sure that the "This site may be compromised" is removed quickly, it doesn't show up when his business is Googled?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Just recreate the site and follow the guidelines in Google's webmaster tools. It might take a while, but all is not lost. Pay more attention to security this time.

Have your friend check out Sucuri Site Check, to find out what the site is compromised from.

In my case, when my WordPress site was compromised, I went ahead and created an export file to act as back up. Installed WordPress on a new sub-domain and imported the backup into the new WordPress and scanned with Sucuri to make sure it was clean.

Came up clean so I just deleted WordPress from the main account, then re-installed WordPress, and imported the posts back in.

    Hope this will help.
