I am switching from Jimdo to Wordpress as a more advance site building option, my questions are as follows:

1. Your Favorite host provider?

Hostgator
WP Engine
Godaddy
BlueHost

2. What features should I buy along with the hosting plan ( premium or security features )?

3. Do you suggest me to buy my domain and the hosting from the same provider for better integration?

Thank you!

      Hello,

BlueHost and HostGator are pretty good for hosting. I also like http://www.arvixe.com

Usually you can find some great promos and savings with HostGator to reduce the price, even though I already find them one of the lowest priced providers. Most hosting companies will even discount the price if you contact their support before ordering.

You could start with the entry level account that offers unlimited or multiple domains to be hosted under 1 account. Once your site and needs grow you can always upgrade easily.

GoDaddy for domain names. GoDaddy offers many promotions and discounts to reduce the price so search for a good promo code and you could get .com domains for sometimes $0.99 - $2.95, etc. They are as aggressive as HostGator in offering promos to get customers. It's easy to use GoDaddy's DNS management system to point your domain name to your hosting providers servers.

Hope this helps. All the best with your hosting services and WP Sites.

You're honestly saying this after the major outage BH/HG just had?

Each one has different opinion as well different experience, so the idea would be different.

Hostgator & Bluehost are currently having major outage as well as many problem arise with them that's why that said so. Even not that reason, I'd never think about using them again after having some issue with them sometimes ago.

I couldn't recommend any hosts that I've never touch, but I'm currently using HostDime for shared`s, WiredTree for VPS`s and as well as LiquidWeb for dedicated server`s. I can only recommend them because I'm having very good experience with them after moving from EIG Hosting Series & Unlimited Plan Hosting Series.

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

I would stick with WordPress › PHP / MySQL Web Hosting the recommendations from WordPress.org But due to the possibility that the current problems at Bluehost may not be temporary I would pass on them.

    Never Godaddy

    2. What features should I buy along with the hosting plan ( premium or security features )?
Don't pay for something you can get for free.
    Install the Wordfence
plugin which will prevent brute force attacks AND scan your installation for malware

Also review the information at Hardening WordPress « WordPress Codex

Never put both those eggs in the same canoe. If it tips both eggs will go down to the bottom together. Even the free domain that comes with many hosting packages is a potential source of big problems.

I haven't tried the others you've mentioned, but GoDaddy is one of the most sluggish hosts.
