Honest, BRUTAL Assessment Required

WEB DESIGN

I have settled now on my blog theme, using Genesis and a Child Theme.

I would like a brutal assesment please (please be honest I am a big boy).

Smart Income Detective Blog - Learn how to start a blog, create an eBook that sells, write for money and earn a smart income from home.

In particular:

1. General design and layout.
2. Navigation
3. Load times (are they acceptable?)

Million dollar question:

If you could make ONE change or implement ONE thing, what would it be and why?

Nice and organized. Logo could be better. Looks decent overall, but footer could use some work. The lines separating the text lines in the footer look out of place.

Ads should be higher up if you're trying to monetize, not buried in the middle of the sidebar.

I read an interesting study lately (can't for the life of me find the link though) that suggests putting the social icons like facebook and twitter at the bottom of the page instead of the top. Reason being you don't want to distract people. You want them focused on YOUR site, not your social profiles.

Thanks for your time, good points - I haven't even THOUGHT about the footer area since hastily adding a couple of widgets there.

That's on my to do list.

Ads - I may drop a couple of them, as I think there may be too many, and move them up as suggested. And your point about social media is a good one - thanks again.

  Good work with the site For me I found it hard to distinguish between the posts. What I mean is that on a glancing look, you can't see one post from the other, it just seems like a big bunch of text. You could try adding featured images to your posts or add some space between them and add a background color to each item other than white.
  The social buttons might look more organized aligned directly along the top of the menu and to the right hand side and the 'Read More' link on posts seems a bit fuzzy with the shadow.
  
  Other than those and the footer, you've done a good job. It's fast loading, functional and has a good feel.
  
  P.s. Those issues I found might just be a signal for me to get my eyes tested again ...

Except the footer it looks good - clean and easy to read.

The animated gifs are a little distracting as well.

I would work on the footer though.
