WordPress is truncating my lead story/post, can you tell me how to fix that?

I'm learning to use Wordpress, and the site I'm working on to get the hang of how to use WordPress is: Best Public Speaking Tips For some reason, my lead story, the main post on the home page, is truncated and there's a ton of blank space underneath.

Yeah, the test post I put there is extremely long, but it truncates after barely a sentence... I've looked thru the setting and such but can't figure out how to fix - can you please advise?

    Hmm, I still couldn't find any setting to account for the truncation...

    So I went into the post itself looking at the text (not html) version of the post and found that the line break / carriage return was exactly where the post was truncating.

    Then I took out the carriage returns/line breaks, saved and viewed the site and guess what?--problem solved.

    But that makes my wonder why a simple line break was causing truncation...??

    Does that mean I can truncate a post in wordpress with a simple line break??
