Full email address in web content

Hi,

I have a query in regards to a best practise.

I am unsure as to whether or not to include an email address in my copy
Is this a bad idea or a good idea and if it is a bad idea why is it?

I have seen some people put email addresses in like this
test(insert 'at' symbol here)warriorforum.com
as opposed to
test@warriorforum.com

Are there programs which search for email addresses so they can be captured for spam?

    yep, probably millions of bots scraping emails now ... I think
    I read an estimated 68% of all email sent now is sp/\m ... once
    your email is in ... your in for life bro` .. lol :rolleyes:

    Best solution is having a Support Desk setup ... much easier to
    manage in my opinion ... I receive no sp/\m at my Support Desk.

    If you do need to use your email address then yes, using the
    yournameATyoursiteDOTcom .... or similar ... is good ... of course
    there are those that will still manually harvest your email ... lol.

  • Ya, don't ever put your full e-mail addy on your pages, I've learned that the hard way over the years.

    Better yet use a contact form or help desk. Less spam and more reliable contact point.
  • I just simply took a screenshot of my eMail address, then cropped it and turned it into an actual .jpg picture. Then instead of adding the actual eMail as text, I inserted the picture there. People can still see the eMail, but 'bots, spiders, extractors or harvesters won't.

    Another thing you could do, of which also works for me because I have software, is to go to a search engine and type in: "email link encryptor". There you will find much information on getting your eMail encrypted. There are also some that are free and online for you to use. It's simple... just input your eMail and it will let you know the code for the encryption, then you just copy/paste it into your document.
