I would like to do a new website and I already have xsitepro but, I can´t decide if I should use xsitepro or wordpress. Now everybody is into wordpress. Do you think wordpress is more convenient?

    Hi
Even though the developer has abandoned XSP and left it with zero support and no updates for 2 or so years it's still use-able depending on what you are trying to build.
Have you logged into the XSP forum lately?

I didn't know XSP had deserted their support and to be honest I'd be surprised if they had.

I was under the impression the owner had passed it on to others to run (I may be wrong)

I prefer wordpress. It has a variety of themes and plugins, which gives the option to customise your website.

You will find tutorials on YouTube.
XsitePro is a fairly good html editor and I've used it recently to build a site.
In many ways it's preferable to Wordpress - At least no plugin issues to drag things down.

I have built some fantastic static sites with XsitePro. Some of them turned out to be real winners in terms of generated profits. To be honest I haven't built a site with the software for almost 6 months but it worked fine then. I do know that Paul Smithson (owner) was looking for someone to run the business due to a health issue but I'm sure support is still there.

The only issue is the developments which were in the pipeline never came into being, other than that, still a great tool.

I used xsitepro in the past and I built some good sites using it but I much prefer Wordpress, I'd never go back to using XSP now. I just find it so much easier to use and with the themes/plugins there are so many different options to choose from.

Log into the XSP forum and have a look at what members are posting about Paul and XSP....

The only support available is from a handful of dedicated members, Paul and Ben have not replied to tickets or responded on the forum for quite a while now...

I don't think the forum was ever very active if I remember correctly.

I always got support as I needed it when I visited the help desk though I must admit I haven't used it for quite a while

        H salegurus,

I understand that Paul, the owner of xsitepro, has been
dealing with some serious health issue.

It has to be something like that for Paul not to be responding
        to customers' emails or posts.

Paul is a good man, and takes customer care very, very seriously.

Yeah, i'm not going to complain.
I got more than my monies worth out of XSP, unfortunately new members are being left to their own devices which IMO is wrong.
Paul should at least suspend new sales until he is well enough (And i say that with some suspicion) to continue with the promised updates etc. or finds a partner to continue development....

I like WordPress much better, and the support at WordPress.org is usually quick and excellent. Better than some paid support.

I have XsitePro since 2 years, but what I've learned from my own experiences with this soft is you w'll never get real Google Ranking with it, to understand me, just publish any page and then visit your website and "right click"then "Inspect element", this is to see your page source code, then click ctrl+F to search for "H1" tag, can you find "H1" ?
I'm sure no, you will not find it, or you w'll find 2 or 3 of "H1" tag, this is not your mistake, this is Xsitepro's mistake, their Soft has many problems with "headings" but as you know if Google find 2 "H1" tags your site will be in risk (no more than one H1 per page).
Final result: XsitePro is the worst software I've seen, you won't succeed with that soft, My only advice is Use Wordpress.
    Good Luck.

There is significant opportunity for such criticism, but yours is ignorant and ridiculous.

      Nothing personal.

I use Wordpress most of the time these days BUT I also use XSP V1 & V2 and have done for many many years.
For a very quick HTML site it's brilliant - regrettably it's maybe come to the end of the line but I will still use it as I have many profitable sites out there using XSP.

        RIP - XSP

I'll take your word for it...
All i can tell you is that Paul is seemingly well enough to send out emails pushing various products but not well enough to keep his promises?

    Some of the member comments:

I totally agree with the many of the comments. Given this morning's email from Paul re advise to his son, I find it ironic that he is not following his own advise.
Paul, given that you are feeling well enough to be actively emailing the XSP owners list, all I am asking is that you reach out to us and let us know about the future of XSP. I have invested enough into learning XSP over the years, so as a potential future upgrader, I should be an easier sell for an XSP v3 versus a new customer. COME ON PAUL!
While I agree with your statement that XSP is functional and yes one can still develop and maintain websites with it (which I do), you cannot ignore or disagree XSP's architecture, the tools it provides and to both new and existing website developers big and small, personal or professional, as one of the most, if not "the" most antiquated WYSIWYG program still being marketed today so much you wouldn't be wrong comparing XSP current state to using a dial-up modem to connect to the internet in today's world or for those of us who remember the days of 'DOS' or 'Windows v1.0'.

I think everyone can appreciate Paul wanting to see his baby XSP to continue to be developed and grow but if he hasn't taken any steps to see this happen by now based on its success then their is a 99.99% chance version 2.5 will be XSP's last. And while I believe no one here wishes anyone any prolong or lasting illness Paul health appears to be just the opposite from what is portrayed. Paul seems to find the time and strength almost everyday to bombard everyone's e-mail pushing some little irrelevant program of his in a effort to turn a quick dollar. Perhaps his health problem is not physical but psychological. Just a thought.
Paul has shown how much he cares by not posting here for more than 2 years (June 2, 2011)
I too commend you for your loyalty Ben but unfortunately due to lack of communication from Paul (except to try and sell us other material which is assigned to my junk box along with his name being being associated to one who try and sell a fridge to an eskimo) him and his company have lost any integrity (if he had any) in my eyes.

According to me, WordPress is better than XsitePro. I use WordPress for developing website. WordPress is free and given all the control to build up your website.

      Kim -

Paul S sent some emails about deciding to abandon plans for XSP3 and to shut down support/sales of XSP2.

He was thinking about it a year ago but then tried to find someone to take on future development. He detailed his reasoning here

      http://paulsmithson.com/blog/12reasons

      and it makes sense.

      kay

As for the xsp forum - Paul has sent several emails and has posted at the link above. XSP can still be used - just won't be developed further.
