I just bought a course for learning web design, so much for troubleshooting there is no but anywayIm sure someone here can help me.

I've got as far as linking to the stylesheet, which is ok..but when I open the index.html in my bowser it doesnt load the stylesheet also.

Bearing in mind all I've got in this folder now is my index, a stylesehhet folder and a stylesheet all on my desktop..

Is that I need to be practicing on a server or is ther a tweak I need to make to get this to work?

thanks.

My booishness shows through I forgot a forward slash in the text/css.

Ok its back to study.

Check the filepath for your css file as that is a common trip up...

I agree with Dylan, usually the mistake I make. Or I forget to upload a file.

I personally never bought a course, just looked at web pages to learn how they did it.

I thought after creating a page using a standard designer or wysiwyg, ie, what-you-see-is-what-you-get, it defaults as a .html page and can be viewed on your desktop without having to be viewed on a server somewhere?

Also, if you already picked a specific design software, you can find several videos either on YouTube, the internet or to buy, that you can study from. There are also numerous CD-ROM's that you can buy to learn from as well.

Yeah you don't need a server for html & css. You only need a 'server' if you are working with dynamic code like php, and even then you can set up a localhost on your own PC using free software.
