Please review my site before launch

I just completed my first dating site design - I own this one myself, I normally design corporate/business websites so I need reviews to make sure it's good to launch. I added my closest friends first , http://foodanddating.com

Comments on homepage design needed. You don't have to signup to review the homepage. Normally there are more men than women joining dating sites but a niche related dating site should pull more women than men (that's my goal)

    Nice website. Look very professional --> but the first time I viewed the site, it was loading very slowly. Afterwards, it was loading fast.

    Overall very nice but there was a few things that bothered me. One is that the color theme is too neutral for "food and love", and something warmer would get you more response.
    The other thing is the plate of food chosen - that one food picture is really important at this point in the development of the site and it really is hard to photograph meat and make the colors turn out well, and that's a big 'ol hunk of meat sitting on that plate - what about a plate of food that had more colors in it - easily achieved with a bit of vegetables and salad on the plate.
