I just have a quick question for which I was unable to find an answer anywhere.

If I use Word press, is it used as a whole webpage or a component of a webpage? I would like to embed it into a HTML/CSS webpage so that I can create better designs for my website (currently in the making).

I basicaly do not want to be bound by borders and prefer to take web pages to a more 3D-ish Level.

Any ideas?

You decide in the template how much of wordpress is in your page. You can make a template that you use as normal html and only call a few things from wordpress. But....why would you use a complete cms for just a few things?
