photoshop ecover action script

Hi,

This may be a silly question - but are there any software that can run the photoshop action scripts (without having photoshop itself?)

The reason I'm asking is because I've purchased a few action scripts which doesn't work with Photoshop6 - and I hear the current version is now CS3.

Or whether these action scripts can be modified to work with Photosho6 ?

Many thanks!

Adrian

    Hi Adrian,

You may want to try the free version of PhotoPlus 6.0: Free Image & Photo Editing Software Download - PhotoPlus (download the 6th version)

The soft is very much like Photoshop, works with layers, and MAYBE can use the same action scripts - just check and you'll find it out.

    Rgds,

Adobe offers 30 day trials of all their software. If you need something done in a hurry, just get the Photoshop CS3 30 day trial.

Doesn't work on the Photoplus 6 - I guess I'll have to go the demo/trialware route.

          Thanks for tips. Appreciate it.

          Best wishes,

I think most of the good action scripts will work with photoshop 6. If you want an ebook one you can get the free one from my site and also a video on how to use it.

              Hi Quentin,

Your action script worked perfectly with photoshop6. Many thanks!

Do you know how to 'convert' existing action scripts to make it compatible with photoshop6 ? Or know anyone who might know?

                Hi Adrian,

I feel your pain. I have PS6 too and feel really left out because I can't use the infamous CoverActionPro scripts to make googly-eye ecovers. As far as I know you can't convert the scripts to work with lower versions.

If you want to make something other than ecovers like software cases or membership cards, you can check out http://www.instantgraphicspro.com The sales letter says it works with PS6. I haven't tried it myself (I'm saving my money so I can purchase CS3 eventually) but it might be another option for you.

In the meantime, if you find out any secret tips for converting the scripts--please let me know!

                =^..^=

There is NO any other ways to convert existing action script to work for a previous version, without re-creating it from stracth. If the creator was created the scripts by using new version, lets say with Photoshop CS2, that's mean it cant be uses with the older version, ex PS7, PS6.. and below. The reason for this is because there is some parts or functions that can't work with the older version.

While I certainly can't recommend using it, there are free crackers that will unlock the CS3 trial for you in a matter of seconds... I have a friend who did this for several of his apps.

Photoshop actions won't work in other apps I wouldn't imagine, no. However, there's a cheaper way to get Photoshop (legitimately) than paying $800 or whatever it is new. I got CS2 by buying a PS6 copy on eBay along with the upgrade - at a total cost of a bit over $200. It's worth a look at least.

If you're serious about graphics, Photoshop really is the only way to go.

easy biz, not sure if you have an answer yet,..BUT there is a fabulous program called true box shot. i mean its really good. if you already have PS, all you need to do is design the graphic, choose a design and it renders it for you.
the best thing about it..easy to use, nothing but the program needs to be installed, you can manage shadows, reflections, angles, everything.
highly recommend it. I use it when a client wants a unusual shape or perspective for their end result. saves a load of time.
    i think its about 99.00?
    hope all goes well
