WordPress issue: Soft-Returns Not Saving. Any Ideas?

I am hoping one of the WF's in-house WordPress experts come to the rescue here.

I am trying to type headlines into a WordPress page using a soft-return to break them up into short lines.

For example:

Instead of shortening it using a hard-return like this:

Code:
This is a long line of words that I want to break up into shorter lines.
... I am soft-returning to make it look like this:

Code:
This is a long line of words that I want to break up into shorter lines.
In the WordPress WYSIWYG editor, the soft-return is there and working.

... but, if I save and then come back to edit again, WordPress automatically adds a hard-return to the line.

Any ideas how to get WordPress to stop doing that?
