Hi,

I have no experience with Amazon programs and I wanted to test them. So I have started with two websites which sell amazon products. It would be very helpful for me if you give your feedback about the websites given below.

| Playcomputergame.com

| Stainlesssteelchicago.com

Thanks in advance

Cheers,

    Hi,

Your websites don't contain any content. They are just a store front. Google or any other search engine won't send traffic to such websites and even if they did, it's unlikely it would convert into any sales because the site doesn't provide any information or details about the products.

You should start your site with a focus and provide useful content in the form of things like reviews and how-to articles then you can build organic traffic to your site.

For inspiration, type in product keywords into Google then look at other affiliate websites which contain content then it will give you a good idea of how to approach things for your own sites.

Why would anyone go to your site when they can find the exact same information on Amazon, and Amazon even does it better? You have to do something different if you want to make decent money from Amazon.

You would be better to take that store down before Google sandboxes the domain. You are not providing anything that is not on the Amazon site.

Put lots of quality content in your site. I would recommend you to add some buying guide, Product reviews and other informative contents for your site. Also you have to go for a redesign if you don't want to get Google penalty.

You may PM me, if you need some solid advice. Take care

Didn't even look at the content because the domain names are hideous. When was the last time YOU bought something from a website with a name like playcomputergame.com???

Come on folks, review sites aren't hard. Naming them is even easier.

The process, in a nutshell, is simple:
    1. Create a REAL domain (brandable). STOP with the keyword domain garbage.
    2. Build an aesthetically pleasing site that looks professional.
    3. Target products that you can rank.
    4. Use REAL content that actually helps the visitor. STOP with the auto-content/scraped garbage.
    5. Post regularly.
Are there more steps? Sure. However, the 5 above will put you on the right path quickly.

interesting to see that a site like apennyshaved that only has 25 pages in Google and a PR of 0 (Zero) has an Alexa Rank of 68,896. Do you know how they generate their traffic?

SEO mostly. It's Spencer Haws (well his student) from the NichePursuits blogs niche case study site. You can read all about it on there. It's quite a new site so I don't think it's made much yet but it's profitable as far as I remember.

    Great domain too. Very clever.

Great info! My site is primarily an Amazon aStore too, and I was thinking the same thing before I set it up. Why would anyone want to buy from my site instead of just going to Amazon?

And that's where the content comes in. I don't promote "my" store. I promote my content, and in some posts I'll have a carousel widget with hand-picked items pertaining to that blog post.

For example, this is wedding season and especially Valentine's Day wedding season, so I'm promoting this blog post now:
Valentine's Day Wedding Ideas - 9 Timeless Ideas for the Perfect Wedding - Creative Personalized Keepsakes

And on the shop's home page, I have Valentine's Day bolded as the featured products for now. I'll change that up after Valentine's Day.

But yes, you definitely have to have relevant content that people are looking for, and then while they're on the site, if they spot an item they're looking for, it's right there!

Others have done a more than adequate job of evaluating the site content. So I'll just comment on one little thing I noticed.

On the second site, at the bottom of the sidebar, I noticed a widget called "My Amazon Wishlist" populated with items from my own personal wishlist. Creeped me out and made you look desperate.

I understand the psychology, sort of. "Maybe if they don't see any SS fittings they need, they'll see the widget and buy something on their list and I can cash in on that."

Bad move. I knew it was a template site with a widget, but some people are going to think "hacked", "virus" or worse. Makes the site go from ineffective to harmful.

I understand that going to a site that is NOT amazon, and seeing your amazon wish list there could be freeky, but what about Google's adsense? They do the exact same thing. I don't think its a bad thing anymore, people that get around the web almost expect it.

Of all the whoas of those 2 sites, this is the least of their worries!

Very true. The 'My Wish List' is actually the wish list of the affiliate. i.e., I've added things to my wish list in my Amazon account but nobody else needs to know what they are.

That can be changed. I have sidebar part of the widget set to "Similar Items" and the program pulls random items from the keyword I used to populate the main part of the aStore.

The difference between the wishlist widget and Adsense is that Adsense is based on the context of the page, not tapping my personal Amazon account. Ads don't bother me unless they become obtrusive and distracting. Tapping what is supposed to be private information does.

            True dat...

Sorry to tell you, but the Wishlist displayed on this page was mine, not the affiliate's. I know that there is a widget some people put on their blogs and such, kind of a "tip jar" kind of thing, but this was different.

After thinking about it, I'm probably more upset with Amazon for tapping this info in this way without my explicit permission. I suppose that if I dig deep enough in the TOS, I probably consented, but it still bothers me.

Now consider the effect on someone not as familiar with the associate program's tools.

Joe (or Jane) Doe stumbles over a page offering stainless steel fittings and such, but there in the sidebar they see their wishlist for a new Wonderbra, a monthly order of rash cream, and a 'Hello Kitty' backpack...nothing related to 'stainless steel fittings'.

Think it might freak them out?

See? I did not know that! The reason I thought it was the other way around is because I was looking at the Wish List from my own blog, so it obviously would show MY wish list, which I didn't want anyone else to see, so I changed the options.

It's just another reason why if you're going to join an affiliate program and use a tool, you really need to know HOW to use it first before making it go live. It's just a simple matter of REALLY reviewing what you've done before hitting Publish, and applying some COMMON SENSE during the review.

Example - I was still in Preview mode, not Published mode when I saw that Wish List thing. It was my list, which I want to remain private, so I immediately went back to the affiliate dashboard for the aStore and changed the options.

And if I happened on someone else's site using the Amazon aStore with the Wish List activated and I saw MY list, I would probably contact the site owner and request they change their options - immediately.

But the bottom line, I don't blame Amazon at all. I blame the lack of common sense on the part of any affiliate who is going to slap up an affiliate site without first knowing what they're doing.

i.e., Amazon, like Google and other online corporations, is just smart enough to capitalize on Stupid People. Just my opinion here.

And like Ron White always says, 'You can't fix stupid.'

My God! I thought I was the only one who thought of this. Super Niche Shopping stores.
Amazon is a Cluster of stuff to buy.

See, I tried this, but I spent an afternoon making 20 stores (similar module of this) all super specific. For example cats, dogs, birds, schools, pianos.

    I thought I was a genius.
Well I was. See I hadn't sold a dang thing, but heres where the beauty is. I hosted these sites on weebly for free, I've made like two sales over two months nothing significant, but I never have to touch them again.

Now... That's the pro of having a site like this, if you build if for free and not waste a thing aside from an afternoon from putting it together.

It looks like you have already paid for a domain name and perhaps hosting.

I'm telling you. It might take ten years before you get that money back, if you have these sites and have to pay for them, your just burning money.
But this is just a review of the Site Module. In short great if you can do it for free forever which makes a site like this is almost immortal. Which is great
    __________________________________________________ _______________

Now a review of the site.

    Loads fast, simple user experiance.
I see perhaps 1% Branding necessary to gain my confidence.
    No favicon, No Logo,
Theres no way to generate leads and follow up, you really eliminate your self from being able to build this.

Maybe add some content, perhaps review video games, or record yourself playing these games and giving feedback like PEWdiPIE!

Give me a reason to stay is what that translates into.

Dude, readjust your embed code from length 4000px so something a little more reasonable. So I'm not scrolling down, It makes me think there would be more to read.

    But to no avail
