I am using wordpress on GoDaddy. Every single plugin the I try to install causes my site to crash and have the '500 error'. I have deleted Wordpress from my host, re-installed it and the same thing happens. Im not even using FTP to install the plugins, but using the interface. What is going on? I called GoDaddy and they basically said they don't know :/

Tons of people have the same problem with GoDaddy and WP... GoDaddy has a great sales dept, sexy commercials, and all that... but their service and support is frustrating!

I left GoDaddy after 1 month. This may help:

In GoDaddy check your Extension Manager. By default fastcgi (.fcgi extension) should not be set to run under WordPress (php). if you have set WordPress to use FastCGI in the GoDaddy Extension Manager then you will get 500 errors guaranteed.

I agree Godaddy's hosting is not very good. I use hostgator, I've been with them for the past 4 years running hundreds of wordpress sites. It's cheap hosting too.

You should have an error log - check the error_log file to see what's causing the errors...
