Moving a HTML Website to a WP Site

Hey Guys,

I have a HTML website that I had built for me several years ago which is ranked high in the SERPS but it is very time consuming adding content or changing things as I'm not brilliant with HTML.

Would anyone know how difficult it would be and how much time it would take to transfer all of my content across to a WP site including the domain name, it has about 8 pages of content, and whether it would have any adverse affects on my rankings?
Thanks.

You have to do this manually. But, since you only have 8 pages, it should not be that hard at all.

My advice would be install WordPress onto a new domain or a subdomain and rebuild your website fully and completely and then transfer the WordPress site to the original domain using a WordPress clone software such as BackupBuddy. There are some cheaper options out there in the market for BackupBuddy, but BackupBuddy is the best in my experience for cloning sites.

    8 pages only?
That's a breeze... and you don't need to buy anything.

If your site is example.com > install WP to example.com/dev/ (or whatever you want to name your subfolder)
Replicate the site - i.e. create posts or Pages in WP to "mimic" the existing site.
If the design is not important, forget the old and use a nice EP theme (otherwise you need to make a theme that looks like your old site... but why would you)
When you are done, just download the old files (for the sake of historical archives, LOL) and follow this simple guide:
Giving WordPress Its Own Directory « WordPress Codex

    Done.

If the site is old, then the theme is too. Get a new one, or use the built-in Twenty Fourteen and tweak it to your liking.

Also, put all your images in the Media Library and add them back into your pages from there. Any type of custom scripting will need to be adjusted or find a plugin to use instead.

No worries about SEO. It will probably get better using some SEO plugins and making updates easier to do, keeping your site fresh.

Thanks guys for your replies... Just one other question that didn't get answered was about whether Google would penalize you and would your site be affected in the SERPS?

And in this "web design" forum it will never be answered... (hint: there is SEO forum elsewhere)

Read the rules and don't push it too far!
