UTF-8 best to copy and transfer WP page?

Hello

In Wordpress I want to copy a page and post it on another site.

I'm making changes for a client on a test site, and when the OK
comes through, I want to just copy-paste to the main site.

When I went to save the page using notepad it gave the warning that
some of the content may be lost if saved as ANSI.

The other options are:

UTF-8
unicode
unicode big endian

I think I've seen UTF-8 within WP, but can't recall where. I started with
that on a test copy and it seemed to work...

Is UTF-8 the best way to copy and paste a page from one WP site to another?

Is it usually free of glitches?

I am pretty new to working with code.

any suggestions appreciated.

    1. You do NOT copy a Page from one WP install to another.
    2. The best thing you can do to copy the CONTENT of a Page (or a post) from one WP to another.
    3. Everybody should always use UTF-8: it is the universal encoding for all the languages.
    4. It used to be editable in WP but - mainly because dumb users were messing with it - it has been removed.

Thanks. The content is what I'm transferring.

I transferred the content after saving as UTF-8.

I understand now what you mean by not editable. I cannot see it in the text or visual area of WP edit page panel. I can see it by looking at source code in a browser.

If I want to transfer content like this, and have it editable, is it appropriate to copy
from one install and paste directly (without going through notepad) to the new one?

Do search engines treat the UTF-8 content the same as the HTML? For this page
I extended the article by over 700 words. Not sure now if the search engines will
even crawl it as new content.

You have a complete misunderstanding of everything. Everything!

Go back to the WP manual and learn the basics. Or don't try doing stuff that is above your head...

Once again - it is absolutely stupid attempt to copy the source code or the webpage as a whole from one WP installation and then trying to "put" into another WP! Stop that nonsense immediately!

You don't have HTML pages in WordPress: all the content, meaning every entry, posts and Pages and comments (plus settings) are stored in the MySQL database, and not in HTML files. Stop messing with copying HTML files!

If you need to transfer the content of a WordPress post or Page from one WP site to another, then you open that Page in wp-admin for Edit > Select the text inside the writing area... and then open the other site and paste what you just copied into a new Page (or post).
Any other way to do it - is crazy

What do search engines havve to do with UTF-8? Search and read before asking nonsense questions! UTF-8 and many other encoding systems are character encoding > read the Wiki
It is NOT an alternative to HTML... every HTML page has its own encoding... even if lazy and/or ignorant webmasters don't put it there.

Delete everything what you did till now. It was wasting time.
Learn before you screw up your WP install.

        From the sticky's:

"... it is a marketers' forum helping
        IMers with minor webdesign questions...

Ask your questions in this forum and some Warrior will more than likely help you out..."

I regard my question as a minor webdesign question. It does not say in the sticky
that a certain level of knowledge is required to enter this institution of higher learning.

If it is "crazy" to transfer content any other way than

"open that Page in wp-admin for Edit > Select the text inside the writing area...
and then open the other site and paste what you just copied into a new Page"

why did you not say that after my first post?

        As for you comment about

"Learn before you screw up your WP install."

That is what I am doing.

And that's where you are completely wrong, my friend...

Not having a clue about how the tool we are using (in this present case the tool's name is WordPress) is working... is not really a "minor design question".

It is called ignorance and entitlement. You are using a nice and complex tool for publishing your content but you don't take the time to learn about it, experience the features and possibilities built into it. You just go and make a dumb move and then you demand to get an immediate answer to solve the issue that you created by your own laziness and ignorance.

why did you not say that after my first post?
Actually, I did - you just didn't get it, because... here we go again, you have no idea about the tool you are using. Here is what I said after your first post:
    1. You do NOT copy a Page from one WP install to another.
    2. The best thing you can do to copy the CONTENT of a Page (or a post) from one WP to another.
For anybody even remotely familiar with WP, it would be obvious that the wp-admin Writing panel is the only place where you can copy/paste the CONTENT!

If you get the chance to spend longer time around here, you will realize I do like to help people and I even know what I am talking about when it comes about WordPress. I have helped many fellow warriors with their WP related issues.
However, I refuse to help anybody that didn't do their homewrok or are lazy to search or are demanding help without doing their own due diligence. And yes, I am harsh with anybody that belongs to the above-mentioned categories.
