I must agree with @coolav, It depends on your website either that is simple website or eCommerce. If you can clear your requirement we can discuss about the prices.

    What I normally quote is:

$1500 initial setup with $500 down to get started
Then $100 - $250 per month for ongoing enhancements

This is for small business clients that are not looking for e-commerce stores, etc...

These are basic Wordpress installs with a customized packaged theme usually from StudioPress (since I have developer rights to all their themes).

This sells well for me and is easy to setup. Honestly, if you're just getting started, I'd recommend starting a bit lower. You could easily setup a Wordpress install and get a site up and running in a few hours. You could sell that for $500 with $50 ongoing maintenance all day long. Once you've got a dozen or so under your belt and a portfolio to show, you can up your prices.

If you're going to go this route, just make sure you customize your theme installation enough that it is not easily recognizable when you're showing your clients. That's easy to do. Just change out the backgrounds, and update the colors a bit. With a large library of themes available and enough customization, you can handle quite a few clients before you need to look for another theme library.
