Wordpress Custom Design

Hello All - I have a site hosted at hostgator using latest version WP. Is it possible to use "custom design upgrade" feature or can this only be used for sites hosted by WP.com? I want to change fonts and colors.

  • If that's something offered on WP.com, it's not available on self-hosted WordPress.

    Just about anything you can do on WP.com you can do using one of the free themes available on WordPress.org.

    • Thanks Robin - Thats kinda what I thought. been using WP for a long time and didn't even know they hosted also. This 'Expound' theme is nice for what I want but I don't want to spend hours in the html. Unless I find a plugin for fonts and colors I probably will use a paid theme I have from Themeforest and go a different route. Or sign up with WP.com and have yet a 3rd hosting account. -Thanks again
  • They don't really host anything... you can create a free blog account, e.g.
    bigbsblog.wordpress.com

    From there you can buy all the upgrades they offer, like:
    - custom design > Custom Design — Support — WordPress.com
    - add a domain > Add a Domain — Support — WordPress.com
    etc.

    Even if you buy the domain name through them and your blog will not have "wordpress.com" anymore in the URL... they don't host it: it's a mapped domain (which you can also do when using WP MultiSite)

  • If you search "font" on WordPress.org you should be able to find several themes that allow you to change fonts.
