I need HELP on building a school website.

a. I think a theme like Academy or WP Education can help you a lot. Of course they are ot free but you can also find some good free theme for that.

b. It depends on how many options do you need to have for each profile. I think with a custom template and a few custom fields you can achive what you need. Of course you can also use a Membership plugin if you need but again it depends on our client requirements and how many access levels do you need

c. You already have the WP user profiles so you can build on that

d. This only depends on you and how much time do you need to develop that in WP.

From the topic I assume you're new to this. I have to ask...

Do you know "Americans With Disabilities Act", "Rehabilitation Act", "Family Educational Rights and Privacy regulations" and every other legislation that effect all US school websites and therefore your project?

Save yourself from the headache and walk away.

*if you happen to be in a different country, there is still most likely similar legislation.

Could you please let me know how it concerns what I want to do as I can not knit the pieces with your post.Moreover,it is not a school in the US.The records of individual students will not to be publicly shown.

Hello, I am a teacher and I had to do a similar project.
a) any magazine or news theme would do as far as looks go.
b) a membership plugin could work but access on the backend should be limited to one or two people to imput the grades.
you really need a Student management system WP is a content management system but I dont know how the hosting of you site will be. There are very few WP plugins for student info.

Using a SIS will allow them to control everything. Grades, attendance, parent/teacher interaction, etc. It also allows the teachers to input the information themselves and frees up administration. The open source systems will allow the school to start small and grow with the student population. Or the administration could go with a paid cloud system.
Some of the open source systems have a paid module like for billing and food programs and offer low cost hosting as well.

I am really interested in using the SIS.Just what my clients want as it frees up too much administrative work just like you have earlier pointed out.
The plugin you showed me earlier looks to do all the work,have u used that plugin (formidable pro)before and does it deliver all it promised on the sales page ?

I did not get to use Wordpress. I worked with a group that listened to anyone but me. We used a system called Typo 3. It has a lot of plugins but is a little complicated to use, so going with WP is an easier start.
If you want to know if a site is using WP go to a blank side or corner of a page and right click. You should see - view page source. Click on that and read the html. It will let you know what framework the page is running on. hope that helps.

This job is getting interesting.My client wants a site that offers the following. 1.An online registration form for online registrations. 2.An ability for applying students to write online tests & get instant results online. 3.An ability for applicants to apply & also write qualifying test and get instant results.
