One of My web Sites Is posting 2 posts per page even though in the reading section of WP I have it set to show 1 post at most. This is the only site that is doing this and it is driving me CRAZY! I can not see any reason for this.

I made my primary post a sticky on the main page, but the other show up as well. ARG!
Any ideas I am running WP 2.71

No post per page plugins or anything like that. On my other sites I simply limit the posts per page to 1 in the reading section and all is well.

What could be going on here?

I tried a different theme and the same issue...

Do you intend to have more posts, or will this always have just the one? You could always go into the theme editor and remove the link to previous/next posts, somewhere in the index or main template.

Doesn't the sticky option make the post sticky? In other words even though in your reading settings you set it to 1, your main page will still show 1 post + the sticky.

Try removing the sticky option in the post where you have it, and see if your main page now show 1 post.

Yes that worked and reduced the posts to one per page but then I could not keep the post I wanted as the 'home page' I fixed the issue using the method above.

    Hey Christian,

Here's what I do: Make your sticky post into a page (just copy and paste) then set your home page as a page instead of a post. Works every time.

    Good Luck, Jon

I did consider that but my template theme treats pages entirely different than posts. (affiliate theme)

I ended up solving it by using the posts per page plug in, setting max posts per page to 1 and them selecting home page post using ascending order. I don't know why it got all buggy using the sticky option but this work around works fine and lets me keep it in post format....

It is weird I have other sites with multiple posts and the stick option works fine without the multiple post problem.... Oh hum

I am glad to hear that I am not alone. Sorry, I usually do not delight in other's misfortune, but I am having the same problem on a new blog that I set up. I tried the forum in Wordpress but never got an answer that made sense or worked.
