Are you going for the clashing look. If so you did it. If not try less colour.

    Hi there,

I love the bright colors you have on your website.
Would be good if you had some words at the top between your picture and the house.

Maybe have the opt in box higher up the page so people do not have to scroll down to see it, then people will notice it more and more likely to join your list.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think it's appalling. What exactly? Well, almost everything.

The colors are horrible: too many and too strong.
The buttons are bad-looking, too: they look like the ones in the old console games such as Pacman.
The opt-in isn't high enough. It's buried down at the middle of the page (btw, what's with the long and empty home-page?)
The header is... well, you on one side and a house on the other. The center is empty, your website name is missing, your 'motto' or 'USP' is missing, etc.

I don't know, everything looks messy. Why don't use Wordpress? It's free and there are plenty of free themes available.

      How many colors ideally?

I don't know, but not as many you have right now. Maybe 2-3? You should also add some more white space, not just colored spaces.

And it's not just that: the proportions are off, the alignment is off, etc.

I'm no expert, but you could take a look at other websites for inspiration.
A free Wordpress theme would look a lot better.

        Here's an example:
Twenty Thirteen | The Future Is Fantastic!

You can add a sidebar to it.

I totally agree with all that Lucian has said in his earlier post. Mate our job here is to tell you the truth so that you can improve - right?

But firstly, kudos to you for having the b*lls to give it a go and ask for help

          OK, here goes ...

Use pastel colors, and just three colors max - including the background. A white or off white background with one or two other colors would be enough.

Green for your environmental awareness theme, and something that goes with green - like red - for other stuff like the buttons.

Also, in you 'About Me' section, just write it in the first person ...

"Hi, I'm Scott Bradley and I love all this stuff. Since I was a youngster I could think of nothing I'd like to do more than be a conservationist when I grew up..."

Do these things and your site will look a lot better instantly.

Experiment with colors and layouts, - it's easy enough to do.

          Hope this helps Scott.

I have seen your website with Firefox browser. But i see your website is not complete yet. Becasue your category bar and left side tab are not so looking good. I think all tab should be written middle of tab then it looks good. All end result your website color matching are good. but it need more developing...

Less is more. Keeping it simple takes time and effort.

I remember my first venture into geocities back in the early 1990's. Your site reminded me of that era.
