Can you add your web designing company name in a free wordpress theme

I've just started a web designing company and found some good free wordpress themes. I want to use one of those themes for my own websites. Can i add my web designing company name to theme footer or anywhere else on theme? I mean is this legal?

    I would check on the theme developer's website. Some will let you under the license agreement. Best practice however, if you are starting a web design company don't try passing a wordpress theme off as your own. If you must then make sure you verify it's permitted with the developers first, even if that means you need to pay a bit more.

    Yes you can, as long as the theme is GNU licensed... If you're talking abt the themes that are available in Wordpress.org repository, you can use them as you like, you can modify and redistribute as well... But if you're looking at free themes from third party developers, i suggest you to read their Terms and only then proceed...
