Is WordPress 3.9/TinyMCE 4 wreaking havoc on your plugins and themes?

So yes I am having a few issues such as shortcodes not being inserted as well as adding the plugin from the dashboard getting the "Are you sure you want to do this" error.

Right now I have a Elancer working on one plugin for me as I got frustrated and needed somebody more savvy at php.

So I wanted to know if others are having issues with plugins and themes after this update.

I noticed a problem with the shortcode but I was trying to manually add it to a theme (rather than placing in the editor or widget area).

And I did have a problem with at least 2 plugins.

I've had problems with new picture editing instrument -- it just freezes with almost blank screen allowing no data input. when I exit media uploading screen it often shows "lost inet connection" although other tabs and skype work just fine.
    Couple plugins also act weird

I haven't gotten that far yet, I'm just a basic, very basic guy.

I am having trouble with the visual editor though (MCE?), it will no longer handle
formatted text from MS Word or Libreooffice, it will only produce it's own default
      text format.

I've been going through all of the alleged troubleshooting steps (the basic steps)
from wordpress and have gotten nowhere yet.

      I'm now wishing I hadn't upgraded.

      Any ideas?

      Mike.

I'm running a few wordpress sites and haven't ran into any issues yet. 2 of my sites have about 15-20 plugins as well. Let's hope they sort this out because I don't want to get any issues.

Yeah - the TinyMCE editor was never meant to take formatted text from Word or any other rich text editor. Pasting from MS Word resulted in crappy code - hundreds of lines of hidden, non-semantic XML that broke many javascript plugins, and any number of other problems. If you want formatted text, learn to do it in HTML and paste it in the text window, or format the text after you've pasted it into the editor. MS Word is not an HTML editor.

There's nothing to 'sort out'. If you are running plugins that modify the post editor, you probably will have some issues if the plugin author hasn't fixed them.

I had trouble with TinyMCE editor myself. For me, I would format my pages the way I wanted, saved them and all was good. Then I go to edit them again, and ever thing went out of wack and I'd have to reformat everything again. Very time consuming and frustrating.

I've been using a CKeditor plugin for the wordpress editor replacement and with no issues. Doesn't mess anything up for me. Actually I've been using a CK editor for a site that is not wordpress for some time, so it's been around.

Only thing with CKeditor is you can't copy and paste with your mouse in visual mode. Not a big deal, I just use the keyboard shortcut, CTRL C and CTRL V.

Don't use many shortcuts, so can't say on that part. But worth a try. I really like it.
