I need advice on this please:
I already have email domain addresses via my host control panel. I now decide to be using gmail domain email address.

I have successfully done site verification - changed my MX records etc. Now it says MX records setup validation in progress...

My question is, how do i carry on using my existing email address or rather, what steps do i need to take now in order to sign in and to be using the gmail? I mean how? I seem to have lost in figuring it out how to access my emails from new platform totally new from what I have been using.

Thanks for your guide.

i took a look but it seems you'r not alone.

There's a solution that someone did on this page and make sense it could work.
    ---------------
I deleted the MX records from my hosting provider for the domain name that was causing the issue..

I 'removed' the domain from the Google Apps account..

I added the domain again back into the Google Apps and to verify the domain, added the text record to the dns settings, but this time SET THE "TTL" FOR THE ENTRY TO ONLY FIVE MINUTES (THIS IS IMPORTANT)..

Went and made a cup of tea for ten minutes.. on return the domain was successfully verified.

THEN added the MX records carefully, again SETTING THE TTL FOR EACH ENTRY TO ONLY 5 MINUTES.

Within the hour the whole thing was finished and I was adding users..

I then ran around my house with my t-shirt pulled over my head 'whooping'.

I don't fully understand DNS settings, but it would appear that the verification system in Google won't wait for 24 hrs and setting the TTL to 5 mins was ESSENTIAL for this set up to happen quickly.

After, I went back in and changed the TTL's all back to 24 hours.

Firstly, let me say that if you have an inbox in your website it will conflict with your gmail or rather Google apps email address.

If you want to have an email address, say me@mydomain.com hosted on Google Apps you will have to delete any email address you have on your server. No mailbox on your server. Otherwise there will be a conflict and one of them (either your local inbox email addresses or the one hosted in Google Apps) will not receive any messages.

Then apply for Google Apps to host your email address.
Then update your MX records on your sever with what is provided by Google. I suspect your host will provide the documentation or help doc to change the MX records. Even your tech support will do them if you tell them you are non-technical ... most cases.

I'm sorry but you are not correct in the fact that you have to first delete the email address at his current host. After changing his MX records to point at google it does not matter if he has email addresses of the same name at his old host as the email addresses he creates in Google apps.
That's like saying that if you move from your current house and keep your name but update your mailing address you need to destroy the mailbox at your old house so that mail can get to your current house, it just makes no sense.

Sorry the first part was my error. You do not need to deleted your mail box before changing the MX records. You can delete your mail box after changing the MX records, too.

But stewie-Y, you seemed to have misunderstood my statement. The local mail box on your host has to be deleted. If not there will be a conflict as to whether your email address is hosted on your local server or in gmail. So in essence I was correct as I was not talking about the email address but the mailbox. When you delete the mailbox all email addresses in that mailbox will be deleted. You cannot host one email address eg sale@mydomain.com in Google Apps and another eg inquiry@mydomain.com on your server. You will find one of the email addresses does not receive any mail. I know because I have 5 email addresses hosted with Google Apps and many others in their local inbox for 10 operationally independent hosted server accounts.
