Are Links On Homepage Linking To Inner Pages Better?

Consider you have a few dozen pages inside your site that you'd like to get better seo / visibility for. Is it better to list links to those pages inside your site on your homepage? I would assume so, and you could list them as actual keyword anchor text links that would be ideal from an seo standpoint. Visitors to your index page would see them, and then navigate to those listed pages from the homepage not to mention if your homepage has a higher page rank and those inner pages do not, I would assume it will bring those inside pages into the indexing alot faster. Here is a sample page (see bottom of page) as to what I am refering to. If anyone else can list the benefits of such a technique, it would be great to hear.....just wondering.

It's always a good idea to link to all the important pages on your site from the home page.

Thanks Robin....I wish there was agood article about this somewhere. I ask this based on the following:
#1. Actually putting inner links on your homepage, like this one.
#2. Or providing links to inner pages via a drop down (see link on far right top menu)

I always read before, where text links directly on page are way better.

Text is better under one condition. The text used in a keyword pertaining to the page that it is going to. Other than that.. all links are created equal.

and example would be pointing to a page that is about "Wordpress custom CSS" and having text linking to the page that is Wordpress hacks is not going to overly do you any good. However if the link text is Wordpress Custom CSS well that's a different ball game.

Savidge: This is exactly what I was wondering. I mean, I do have a drop down list of categories pointing to inner pages here. And note the dropdown is actually on far right of the menu at top of my page. There are roughly 50 "
inner pages" those links go to.....but I feel if I put those links actually ON the index page, it will do them alot more good from an SEO-standpoint.

I put text links using keywords that pertain to the page being linked to on my homepage. Found it works better for seo but hard to do for really big sites then ypu have to use a drop down menu etc.

What you really should be doing is setting up you sites architecture using a 'silo' structure.

The silo structure allows Google the spider your site in a logical flowing way so they can easily determine the theme of your site.

If you can 'silo' structure your site correctly, your site will rank higher with minimal backlinks.

Or, is it possible to take each inner page that's linked from the homepage and add a keyword anchor text link BACK to the homepage?
